Founded in 2008, the Heartland Community College Alumni Association was developed to serve the needs of Heartland Community College alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the College. Register for the Heartland Community College Alumni Association in order to take advantage of the following benefits, services, and discounts such as our new Student-Alumni Savings Club:

Student Alumni Savings Club

Heartland Community College is pleased to provide its students and registered alumni with discounts on hundreds of local and national retailers, restaurants, entertainment venues and service providers starting April 1. If you are not currently a registered HCC Alumni, register at the HCC Alumni Association.

You will receive instructions on how to access the savings club, including an easy downloadable app for smartphones to provide you with location-based updates on discounts.

Some of the current discounts include but are not limited to; Double Tree Inn, D.P. Dough, Frontier Bowl and Windy City Wieners. For instructions to access the Student-Alumni Savings Club visit HCC Student and Alumni Savings Club.

Group Discount Rates for Area Events and Attractions

The Heartland Community College Alumni Association partners with several businesses throughout Bloomington-Normal and surrounding areas to offer HCC alumni fantastic discounts at local events and attractions.

From concerts at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts to tickets to CornBelter's games, there are plenty of opportunities for HCC alumni to enjoy fun and affordable entertainment and attractions throughout the Twin Cities. Past discounts include Heartland Night at a Normal CornBelters game, Heartland Day at Miller Park Zoo and the Summer Concert Series, which most recently featured local bands Sister Groove and The Boat Drunks at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

Social events hosted by the Alumni Association

Social Events

Events hosted by the Alumni Association not only allow alumni to connect with each other, but also to connect with current students, faculty and staff. Past social events have included Back to the Nest and Heartland Idol, and a complete listing of events is available on the Alumni Association's Events page.

Community Education Course Discounts

Registered members of the Heartland Alumni Association are eligible for discounts for many Community Education classes when registration occurs at Alumni events. Registering for a class at an alumni event provides a 10% discount.  For information on the next event for which discounted registration will be available call (309) 268-8160 or visit the EVENTS tab.

Access to Current Heartland Facilities

Residents of HCC District 540 are able to use the College Library and computer labs on [all of Heartland's] campus[es] free of charge. For more information, visit the HCC Library Web site.

Alumni Association career development opportunities

Career Development Opportunities

When you register for the Alumni Association, you are eligible to participate in a variety of career development opportunities. Within the past two years, the Alumni Association has held several career-related events, including Step Back to Step Forward and Speed Career Coaching. In addition to our professional and career development events, HCC alumni can receive assistance with résumé writing, job search skills and interview techniques from Heartland's Career Services staff.

Alumni Association Scholarships

The Heartland Community College Alumni Association wants to encourage its members to return to the College for life-long learning and to encourage their family to pursue their education here. The association has established a $500 scholarship that is open to all registered members of the HCC Alumni Association or their dependents.

Applicants must also have a HCC GPA or high school GPA one a 4 point scale of 3.0 or higher and have documented financial need.

The deadline to apply for the Alumni Scholarship is February of each year. The scholarship recipient is selected in April and the scholarship can be applied in fall semester. You can submit an application online through the Heartland Foundation.

Quarterly Alumni Newsletter

The Alumni Association Newsletter helps alumni stay informed about new buildings, programs and events at HCC. It is your connection to the College no matter how close or far away you live. The newsletter also provides an outlet for successful Heartland alums to share your successes outside of the classroom.
