Career Training

These professional education programs are designed to prepare you for employment in specialized careers. These courses may require additional time commitments outside of class. Students who successfully complete course and experiential requirements should have the skills to pursue employment opportunities in their chosen field. We encourage you to research employment opportunities prior to registration.

Allied Health Care Program Refund Policy

In order to receive a full refund you must do so at least 2 working days prior to the first day of class. If you are on the payment program your processing fee will be refunded. You will receive your refund within 10-15 business days after the class has been dropped. To drop a class call 309-268-8160.

If the refund deadline has passed, a student may be considered for a full refund of tuition if a licensed physician documents that a major medical situation has occurred which supports the student’s withdrawal from his/her class. To be considered for a medical withdrawal, a letter must be written in a timely manner, including medical documentation to the Dean of Continuing Education.

Reservists called to active duty while enrolled at Heartland Community College shall receive a full refund or credit against future enrollment. A letter requesting the drop and military documentation should be provided to the Dean of Continuing Education.

If a class is canceled because of insufficient enrollment or for another reason, students will receive a full refund.

Certification Sequence

Students who successfully complete all three courses in the Certification Sequence and the Travel Agent Proficiency Exam, which is administered on campus, will earn a Travel and Tourism Professional Certificate from Heartland Community College.

Ignitor Labs: Commercial Food Equipment Repair Technician

Master the skills you need to gain employment as a commercial food equipment repair technician! This engaging, interactive curriculum is available online 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The course, which can be completed in 30 days or less, covers basic topics in electricity, gas and steam as well as an introduction to the commercial food equipment industry. You are guaranteed a job interview with an authorized service company after successfully completing the program.

Note: This program, developed by Ignitor Labs, is endorsed by the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA). Individuals that have successfully completed the program will have access to a proprietary database of more than 800 service company locations interested in hiring technicians. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) II Certificate Program

A world-leader in distance education, George Brown College offers award-winning online technical training in Programmable Logic Controllers. The PLC Technician II Certificate is a computer-based home study program that enables students to study at their own pace, remotely from their own homes, using DVD-based curriculum and a PLC simulator to master the technology of PLCs in the field of industrial manufacturing and production.

Social media marketing and the demand for knowledgeable employees are exploding. This four class certificate program is designed around a continually updated curriculum and can be completed in one semester. These programs are offered in partnership with Be XSible.

Wedding & Event Planner Training

Help people host their dream events. In partnership with Lovegevity, learn from a local event planner the fundamentals of planning and orchestrating a social event. Register for this 40-hour course that will cover everything you need to know about working in or starting a wedding and event planning business.
