FAFSA

Heartland FAFSA Code

Heartland Community College school code: 030838

HCC MUST be listed as a college choice on your FAFSA.

What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and lets Heartland determine what financial aid is available to you.

Do I have to complete the FAFSA?

FAFSA is the building block for all financial aid and MUST be completed. FAFSA results take time - the earlier you apply, the smoother the process will be.

When should I complete the FAFSA?

Your FAFSA form should be submitted by the date for the respective semester as listed below.

HCC's Priority FAFSA deadlines
Semester Deadline
Fall Semester March 1
Spring Semester Only October 1

Apply as early as possible! It's important to apply by the preferential filing dates to be considered for all aid types and ensure your financial aid eligibility is determined before the start of each semester. Note that the major state grant program may require that you file earlier than the dates outlined due to limited funding.

How can I apply complete the FAFSA?

You can complete the FAFSA online:

  1. Go to http://www.fafsa.gov.
  2. Follow the instructions.
  3. Receive the results, typically in two to three weeks.

HELP!!!

Weekly FAFSA workshops are available for assisting students, potential students and parents in completing the on-line FAFSA application.

How will I be notified of my results?

Heartland will receive the results of your FAFSA from the U.S. Department of Education if you listed Heartland as a school choice when you completed the FAFSA. The Financial Aid Office will communicate with you, through your Heartland e-mail, if additional information is needed and will email an award notice, indicating the programs you qualify to receive. Results vary depending upon your financial status.
