Heartland’s 12th annual student art exhibition now on displayApril 6, 2016
The Liberal Arts and Social Sciences department at Heartland presents the 12th annual juried student art exhibition. Artworks are on display in the College’s library now through May 6.
The exhibition features a wide range of art media and styles created by HCC student artists in studio art classes. Artist Lisa Lofgren juried the exhibition and selected award-winning artworks. Her exhibition, The Earth, worn, is currently on display in the Joe McCauley Gallery on Heartland’s Normal campus.
To kick off the exhibit, the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences department hosted a reception on Monday, April 4 and recognized student artists. Artworks were judged based on concept and originality, technical skills and presentation.

First Place: Amber Weppler, “Pastel Self Portrait” (drawing)
Second Place: Amir Faruq Kadar Muhammad, “Self Portrait” (drawing)
Third Place: Gloria Fitzgerald, “Light of my Life” (silver gelatin print)
Honorable Mention in Photography: Sarah Frey, “Encapsulated” (silver gelatin print)
The public is invited to view the free exhibition. Heartland’s library is on the first floor of the Student Commons Building at the main campus. Library hours are:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- Saturday: Noon - 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
