Students taking Interior Design courses will be introduced to principles and elements of design as applicable to residential and commercial environments. Concepts introduced include perceptual skills, creative awareness, space planning, color, texture and textiles. Students will also learn how these concepts are applied to floors, walls and furniture to create an aesthetic and functional interior space.
While interior design is essential to many technical courses and programs of study, this subject is not a career major at Heartland Community College.
Design (DSGN) courses may be taken as electives in many of the technical degrees and certificates offered at the College.
