District 540 Board seats TrusteesApril 27, 2021
Two new members and one returning member of the District 540 Board of Trustees will be seated and begin to serve their elected term on Tuesday, April 27.
Incumbent trustee Rebecca Ropp of Normal will begin her second term on the Board. She will be joined by former Heartland Student Trustee Joshua Crockett of Bloomington. Both were elected to a six-year term on the Board of Trustees on April 5.
Ropp was appointed to the Board of Trustees in February 2014 and was elected to her first full term in 2015. She works as Director of Talent Management at GROWMARK, Inc., and is a partner in Ropp Jersey Cheese, LLC.
Crockett is a senior at Illinois State University, where he transferred after graduating from Heartland in 2018. He had previously served a one-year term as a Heartland Student Trustee, a position elected by the College student body. Crockett will fill the seat vacated by Pat Hardesty, who opted to not pursue re-election of his expiring term.
Cecelia Long of Bloomington was elected to complete the two year remainder of the unexpired term of Gregg Chadwick, who died in September of 2020. Long has served close to a decade in social services, working directly with a diversity of people in the community including in Unit 5 and District 87 school systems, in mental health and crisis response, homeless services and housing issues, and with students at Heartland and Illinois State University.
Katie Boland was selected to serve a second term as Student Trustee by the Heartland Student Government Association. After receiving an Associates in English at Heartland, she plans to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a degree in pre-law.
The Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., April 27 at Heartland Community College Community Commons Room 2012, 1500 W. Raab Road, Normal.
