Step 2: Submit Transcripts and Residency Documentation.
It's important to submit your GED, high school or college transcript so that you can receive credit for the work you've already done! Check out this page to learn more about submitting your transcripts.
Proof of in-district residency is required for you to receive the in-district tuition rate unless you graduated from a high school located in Heartland's district within the past year. This documentation can be sent directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 3: Complete Your FAFSA.
The Heartland Community College Financial Aid Office is here to help. To get started, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It's important to apply for financial aid EARLY. The earlier you start, the easier it will be.
Step 4: Apply for Scholarships.
The Heartland Community College Foundation awards nearly 200 scholarships each year! All you need to do is complete one application. Please refer to the online demonstration to get step-by-step instructions on how to apply.
Step 5: Placement Testing.
Placement tests help determine the best courses for your success at Heartland. All first-time college students take the full placement test unless using a waiver or previous college-level credit for placement. For a complete list of accepted waivers and qualifying scores, visit our Testing Center page.
Step 6: Meet with your advisor to register for classes.
An advisor is available at HCC Pontiac to help you explore your interests and skills as you develop personal, academic, and professional goals. Partnering early and often with your advisor will keep you on track toward reaching your destination. A New Student Appointment is required for students who plan to complete a certificate or degree at Heartland. Click to schedule an appointment.
Step 7: Pay Tuition.
When it comes to paying for college, you have lots of options. Heartland Community College provides students with access to their student bills online in IRIS and also mails paper bills to students.
